The little things

As I walked by the sea on the Corniche in Beirut, one child approaches me to sell me a flower. He sees my camera in hand and asks me a bunch of questions then asks for a picture.

His friends see us, they one by one all approach me to ask for pictures too. At that moment, the kids were all so happy and entertained by something as small as a click of a button.

They became completely careless of selling their roses anymore even though they need every penny to survive the harsh situation in Lebanon nowadays. However, these beautiful smiles blur all the pain away.

These kids really showed me that money really doesn’t buy happiness and that even with nothing, the little things really count.

This is a memory I’ll never forget.
